Four resorts that’ll have you planning a trip to Fuji
It’s no secret that Fiji is one of my favourite places in the world. With palm-fringed beaches, clear aqua water, an abundance of fresh seafood and tropical fruit, and some of the friendliest locals you’ll ever meet, it’s hard not to fall in love with the place. Which is why whenever I’m asked for tropical holiday recommendations, Fiji is always high on the list.
While deciding on Fiji is easy, narrowing down your trip to a single island or resort can be hard. After staying on six different islands at eight different resorts on my last trip, I’ve come to the conclusion that wherever you decide to visit in Fiji, you can’t go wrong. Every island is beautiful and every resort has its own charm. So to help get you inspired, here are four of my favourite resorts in Fiji:
Located on the edge of the ocean in Savusavu on the island of Vanua Levu, Koro Sun Resort is as close to paradise as you can get. The property has been built in amongst a rainforest and even has its own waterfall. Choose from a bure surrounded by tropical gardens, or an incredible edgewater bure with panoramic ocean views, day bed for two, outdoor shower and ladder down into the ocean.
Tip: Don’t leave without trying the ‘Banana Leaf Wrap’ – Koro Sun Resort’s signature day spa treatment. It involves getting coated in mud, wrapped in banana leaves and left to ‘cook’ while you zone out to the sound of the waterfall.
How to get there:
The quickest and easiest way to get to Savusavu is fly direct from Nadi International Airport with Fiji Airways’ domestic airline Air Pacific. The flight takes about an hour and if you manage to get a window seat, you’ll get an incredible aerial view of the islands the whole way there. Details here.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort is an exclusive five-star adults-only resort that’s also home to Fiji’s only over-water bungalows. Located in the Mamanucas, an archipelago made up of around 20 islands, Likuliku Lagoon Resort is a regular on best resort lists and for good reason. With a fine dining restaurant, world-class spa, and their own organic hydroponics farm, this is the resort that tropical dreams are made of.
Tip: While the entire breakfast menu is AMAZING, the Mud Crab Omelette will blow your mind. Best washed down with a fresh coconut after an early morning surf.
How to get there:
Located only 25km (16 miles) from Nadi International Airport, Likuliku Lagoon Resort can be reached by fast catamaran, private speedboat, seaplane or helicopter – direct to their own helipad. Details here.

Perched on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Taveuni Island Resort is a five-star resort that despite its luxury bures, feels like home. Run by a New Zealand family who moved to the island decades ago to start up the first diving operation in Fiji, the resort is also their home and you’ll often wake up to find their two friendly Dobermans playing on the lawn outside your bure.
Tip: The waters around Taveuni Island are legendary all over the world for their abundance of sea life. If you’re a keen diver, time your trip with a dive to the Great White Wall – a famous dive site that’s constantly rated one of the best in the world, which can only be seen in all its glory on certain dates of the month.
How to get there:
Taveuni Island is a 90 minute flight directly from Nadi. There are four to six flights a day, making for a smooth international connection. Details here.

InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa
While the entire resort is a tropical paradise with infinity pools, palm trees, beachside bars and alfresco restaurants, the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa is famous for its exclusive ‘Club InterContinental’. Best described as a resort in a resort, Club InterContinental gives you access to your own butler service – it’s pretty much adults-only with kids under 12 not allowed. You also get access to exclusive areas like an amazing pool and lounge area where you can enjoy complimentary afternoon tea and sunset cocktails and canapés each night.
Tip: Make sure you squeeze in a meal at Navo – one of their fine dining restaurants that overlooks the island of Navo. Open for breakfast and dinner, the restaurant features contemporary cuisine inspired by the sea and has one seriously impressive wine list.
How to get there:
You don’t need to travel far to get to the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa. The resort is located on the main island of Viti Levu and is a scenic 45-minute drive from the international airport in Nadi. Details here.
